Our island might be surrounded by sea but the tall and wild mainland mountains create an ideal landscape for ski-mountaineers. The White Mountains are one of the longest mountain ranges, with constant heights,  of our country with 54 summits at above 2000 metres and 58 more at 1800 m.  That practically constitutes a mountainous desert, the dream of any skier when covered in snow.
